EPIC ARMOURY BAZUBAND REVIEW

Whether your into cosplay, reenactment, or creating short films – finding the perfect armor can be a bit of a challenge. One of the goals of Libertas Video is to help you in that quest – by reviewing some of the best gear – so you can make wise purchasing decisions. In this review, we take a closer look at the Bazuband made by Epic Armoury.

Historical and Handcrafted

According to the manufacturer, the design of this Bazuband is inspired by out 12-14th Century Persian Armor. Crafted out of 19 Gauge Steel, this gauntlet provides extended protection from your elbow to the back of your hand and thumb. The hand guard is connected to the main forearm via chain main, which not only provides additional protection, but adds a refined style as well.

The Good

What I love about this bazuband is the style. It is beautiful but simplistic. The chainmail connecting the hand guard is such a nice touch. But with such a cool but generic design, this makes it so applicable to various time periods. Despite being inspired by 12th century designs, I could see this fitting very nicely on and assassin, templar, robin hood, or a renaissance warrior with ease. It is so good looking.

The are also very well made. Handcrafted using 19 gauge steel and top grain leather, these materials are nothing to complain about. And being designed for LARP, these gauntlets are made to be used.

Finally, they wear very well. While it would be best to wear them with a glove and gambison, these can fit nicely on bear arms as well. Sometimes you can find gauntlets that feel bulky and awkward to wear. But with all the fine leather strapping and inner vambrace, you can be confident this is not going to hinder your movements.

The Bad

Of course there are a few downsides that should be considered. One being that these Bazubands are very large. Part of there design is to cover and protect the elbow. However, even after looking at all of the marketing images, I was still surprised by the size when I opened the got them. So while this provides excellent protection, it should be considered when purchasing.

Additionally, these Bazubands are on the pricier side of our budget friendly reviews. In all honesty, they are not too bad. However, as far as I can tell, Epic Armoury tends to release these in limited quantities. Adding that to the already high craftsmanship and superb materials, should explain why they are priced the way they are. But considering their wide application, I still believe these are a wonderful value.

The Overall Opinion

At the end of the day I would highly recommend these Bazubands to anyone looking for a great looking pair of gauntlets that can be used on multiple costumes. Although a lacking in overall detail, the simplicity works for these gauntlets. And of course I would also recommend this to those participating in reenactments or LARP, or anyone who needs style and functionality from their gauntlets.
