CONNOR KENWAY GAUNTLET WIP

This vambrace was a quick build. My wife and I were planning to attend the local renaissance fair, and she had chosen to wear a female version of the Connor costume. Appalled by the giant piece of vinyl they supplied as a vambrace, I stepped in to make things right. This was the first time I had made a vambrace for anyone but myself, so I had to take great care to measure and re-measure her arm. Inspired by this video I found online, I mocked up my templates in foam before cutting into the leather.

Of course I wanted to make sure this could hold a hidden blade, and since one of her favorite Assassins is Edward Kenway, she got his blade strapped to her vambrace. I also repurposed an emblem from my original Connor vambrace on this project as well.

The vambrace itself consists of three types of leather. The more rigid and resistant 7-9 weight leather. A thin accent leather, and sued used as an accent. It was certainly a challenge to pull together, and I do notice there are places for improvement. Particularly in the scale. The main body of the vambrace should be longer. But I think it came out very well, and Lauren was very happy with it as well. Definitely check out our “Assassin’s at the Renaissance Fair” Video to see a little more of the vambrace in action.
