VENETIAN TALON – EZIO’S RIGHT HIDDEN BLADE (AC2) QUICK LOOK

One of the features that changed for Assassin’s Creed 2 was that the main protagonist, Ezio, was able to wield two hidden blades. Early concepts depicted this right blade as coming out of his sleeve, whereas in the game there was a vague indication that this blade actually differed from the hidden blade he received from his father, Giovani. The closest you could see this design was on the unlockable Armor of Altair found underneath Monteriggioni.

Looking at the concept art, you can see that Ubisoft indeed had this fully mapped out, but it was just hard to see in the game. So the concept art is what I ended up basing it off of.

Like the Florentine talon, I modeled it in Blender and printed it through Shapeways. This time I printed the product in black so that I would not have to put down a base coat and that worked very well for me. The rest of the prop was coated in a few waxed based paints which I think made the prop look great. A little black was for weathering was all it needed, and it was looking good on my writs.

The only downside was that my locks for the second tier were again too thin – causing one to break. While the other still works, this prevented me from making it available for the public.

However, I think it turned out even better than the Florentine talon – being thinner and more intricate. I do hope to fix it up a bit more so that I can make it available like the Florentine Talon.
